Was Christmas born in England? Jackson~Hewitt believe so and would like to share their belief with the release of their new feel-good Christmas anthem of the same name. written from the perspective of an English soldier stationed abroad over the festive period, the song portrays emotion ,optimism and patriotism in equal measure and will surely strike a chord with anyone who can imagine the feeling of being away from home and family over Christmas – whatever your nationality.
Dugdale’s Flower’s is a folk album, yet it is not a tribute to the styles of the past. It is its own living entity, it is here in the now, a body of work for today and beyond.
You cannot live a life without gathering emotions and sounds, and you cannot portray the memories of those emotions honestly without giving away something of your inner self, the vulnerable pieces that make you who you are to the people that truly love you.
Peter Dugdale was my wild spirited fine art lecturer, and as a seventeen year old boy I drank up every drop of his rebellion. He would compare each student’s work to his own masterpiece, a series of flower observations, that he would describe in great detail. Eventually I came to understand that those studies didn’t actually exist and that despite being able to visualise the work he had yet to receive the inspiration to put paint to canvas.
His flowers simply represented ambition.
Dugdale’s Flower’s is an ambition realised, a journey that both Barry and I have been travelling
for more years than we care to mention.
Dugdale’s Flowers is released in June 2010, we are proud to present these preview tracks and hope to see you out on the road this year.
DUGDALE'S FLOWERS
The Excellent New Album from
JACKSON~HEWITT
Jackson Hewitt’s debut LP certainly has a rustic feel to it. Largely folk driven but with some celt/rock elements and lyrics born from personal experiences, this is a tidy and charming album.

"This is a fine folk record, Tir na Nog is what immediately comes to mind when I listen to this excellent record. This duo is comprised of a drummer and a guitarist/vocalist. There are a few guest musicians and some really fine production on these songs. They are always folk driven, but the rock elements and sonic landscaping is excellent. “Religion” is a nice gutsy song that is the rockiest number on the album. The horn arrangements are used with care deep in the mix. I am not sure they hit a wrong note here."

Jackson Hewitt are a Lancashire-based two-piece with a pure sound, storytime lyrics and nothing but guts. Here you’ll find a blend of progressive folk with traditional Celtic influences. Twenty One draws attention to their refined sound with the merging of a perfect fiddle with clear vocals. Their music is telling of a life that’s been lived, and would be worth the experience
